When stress becomes visible, it can be trained.
The name PsyMosaic joins two ideas. Psy stands for psychology, whose symbol is the Greek letter Ψ — the sign in our logo, and the mark the discipline has carried since its beginnings. Mosaic is how understanding yourself actually comes about: never in a single revelation, but tile by tile. Every session, every rise and fall of the signal, every trigger you recognise is one piece. Set side by side, they reveal the larger picture — how your body reacts, and what you can change.
PsyCalm reads your electrodermal activity through a plain USB port — no drivers, no installation. PsyMosaic turns that signal into a live graph and a traffic light in your browser, and an AI companion steers the conversation by where the signal rose and where it settled.
Stress is measured subjectively — and it starts below awareness
Mental-health apps rely on self-report. You rate afterwards how you felt — and self-report lags, rationalises and almost never lands on the real trigger.
Electrodermal activity (EDA) is a direct output of the sympathetic nervous system. It responds within one to three seconds, before you notice you have responded at all, and it cannot be faked at will.
Professional EDA equipment starts at around €1,000 and stays locked inside laboratories. Consumer watches and bands measure pulse and steps — not arousal in real time, and they do not talk to you about it.

A device, free software and a subscription
PsyCalm
USB HID — no drivers, no installation. A new probe designed for a material cost under €10 in a pilot run of 50 units.
Free software
A live graph and a traffic light: green for relaxation, amber for neutral, red for arousal. Record and export a session. Works offline too.
PsyMosaic.com
An AI companion that steers the conversation by the signal, a library of psychological programmes, a map of your triggers and your history over time.
USB HID = Universal Serial Bus Human Interface Device, a device class computers recognise without drivers. The free software deliberately covers measurement and display only — the AI companion, the programmes, the trigger map and the history sit behind the subscription.
A closed loop: the signal guides the conversation, the conversation moves the signal
Measure
EDA is read continuously over the USB port, with nothing installed on your computer. A rise indicates arousal, a fall indicates relaxation.
Show
You watch your own graph and traffic light. The feedback arrives in the same second.
Guide
The AI picks the next question or topic according to where the signal jumped and where it calmed down.
Learn
A trigger profile, a progress report, and a programme tuned to what you actually react to.
Existing products either measure or converse. PsyMosaic does both in the same second — which is why it learns from every session.
From stress control to advertising research
Stress control
Short daily sessions at home and at work. You practise bringing the signal down into the green zone.
Anger management
The traffic light shows escalation before you feel it — and teaches you to interrupt it.
Stressor map
The system records which people, places and topics raise your arousal and builds a personal trigger map.
Desensitisation and phobias
Gradual exposure with measurement. The next step comes only once the signal drops — an objective criterion.
Stage fright and performance
Simulated exams, interviews or public speaking, until the reaction to the question stops spiking.
Smoking cessation
A cigarette slide is followed by an aversive sound. After repetition the image alone provokes a response, and EDA measures how far the conditioning has come.
Advertising research
Participants watch an advert from home while their EDA is recorded. A stronger orienting response means the shot is better remembered.
Couples and compatibility
Compatibility measured by the actual reaction to content, not only by questionnaire answers.
On the roadmap: sport and e-sport · sleep and evening wind-down · digital wellbeing and doom-scrolling · gambling · self-regulation in children and ADHD · preparing negotiators and salespeople · exposure in virtual reality · early detection of panic attacks · corporate burnout programmes · reaction-time testing · cognitive, affective and behavioural profiling · classroom kits for teaching EDA, the orienting reflex and Pavlovian conditioning
One technology, four audiences
Consumer
PsyCalm plus a PsyMosaic.com subscription: psychological programmes, testing through texts and images, and matching by psychological compatibility.
Clinic
Client records, session history, AI notes and practice finances. A client with a device at home can authorise their psychologist to follow their EDA live during an online session.
PRO
PsyEDA for teaching and research: orienting response, stress, habituation, concealed-information tests. Statistics, machine-learning classifiers and export ready to work with.
Media
Participants watch an advert from their own home while their EDA is recorded. The system archives and compares every signal and returns a report with a per-second curve.
Basis for the Media channel: measuring arousal towards commercial content by tracking EDA (Hurley et al., J. Appl. Packag. Res. 7, 2015) and the classical theory of the orienting response and habituation (Sokolov, 1963; Siddle, Psychophysiology 28, 1991).
The consumer side rests on established science, the professional side on ours
Established science — EDA, stress and emotion
Field standard. Boucsein (2012), Electrodermal Activity, Springer; Society for Psychophysiological Research guidelines: Boucsein, Fowles, Grimnes et al. (2012), Psychophysiology 49, 1017–1034.
Stress. Ahmed, Qassem & Kyriacou (2022), Biomed. Signal Process. Control 75, 103591 — a review of physiological methods for monitoring stress and depression.
Emotion. Ganapathy, Veeranki & Swaminathan (2020), Expert Syst. Appl. 159, 113571 — emotion classification from EDA using neural networks.
Sleep and recovery. Sadeghi et al. (2019), Comput. Biol. Med. 110, 276–288 — predicting sleep quality from physiological signals.
Outside the laboratory. Hurley et al. (2015), J. Appl. Packag. Res. 7 — measuring arousal towards packaging in a shop.
Current methodology. Tronstad, Amini, Bach & Martinsen (2022), Physiol. Meas. — a review of current EDA measurement methods.
The measurement is standardised and the link to stress and emotion is published. For the consumer side we are not proving the principle — we are proving cost, distribution and retention.
Our contribution — the professional side
Ranđelović, V. (2023). Interactive slide selection algorithm and machine learning in psychophysiological memory testing. Physiological Measurement 44(2), 025004 — the ISS (interactive slide selection) algorithm; the test takes 53 s instead of 330 s.
Ranđelović, V. (2024). Conditioning to true content and artificial intelligence in psychophysiological intention recognition. International Journal of Psychophysiology 197, 112296 — the CtTC (conditioning to true content) method.
The left-hand column is general international literature on electrodermal activity, stress and emotion. The results from our two papers apply to laboratory samples and conditions, and are cited as evidence for the method, not as a claim about field performance.
